AMBA Membership Committee Report: Winter 2024

The strength of any industry association is embedded in a strong membership that reasonably represents as diverse a cross section of its industry as possible.  Collectively, we all need AMBA to remain a strong unified voice for our members who are actively involved in the Metal Building Systems market here in Alberta.  The more diverse and larger the body, the more effective we can be as an association in representing the interests of the membership.  Membership in our Association provides a source for updates on issues and developments affecting the Metal Building Systems Erectors in the province of Alberta.

AMBA Membership Committee Report: January 2023

Welcome to 2023, a year that seems poised to hold good potential for Alberta in general, and our Steel Building Market in particular. Alberta has always persevered through the ups and downs of political and economic winds of change. Strong indications are that we will see increased population growth and economic activity, as we build on our oil and gas legacy and at the same time, transition into alternative energy markets and carbon capture and storage.

AMBA Membership Committee Update: January 2022

I imagine we all want to make a collective New Year’s Resolution to just put the last two years behind us. While we all hopefully enjoyed a good Christmas break, the bone chilling cold certainly kept my family from participating in lengthy outdoor activities. Given the challenges we are all facing, 2021 was still a positive year for AMBA as we held onto existing members and welcomed several new companies to the fold.

AMBA Membership Committee Update: October 2021

Well, after almost a year and a half of an altered state of reality, it was a real pleasure to get together on Thursday Sept 16th at the Ranch for our 2021 AMBA Golf Tournament. Although the morning started out a little chilly, the weather cooperated and everyone had a good time reconnecting with fellow steel building stalwarts. Kudos to the organizing committee and especially to Linda for a great selection of what seemed like unending prizes to hand out.

AMBA Membership Committee Update: July 2021

Hot enough for you? And I don’t just mean the weather. Things seem to be heating up in Alberta as we look forward to our provincial “reopening” on Canada Day. Regardless of our individual feelings on COVID measures, let’s hope for, and work towards a respectful return to regular life. Whether you are in favour of, or opposed to masks and vaccines, let’s respect each other’s personal choices without judgment.

AMBA Membership Committee Update: January 2021

Well, that year is finally over! 2020 certainly was a different kind of year, as we all had to deal with the challenges of managing a global pandemic. It is interesting to note, that when a group of people bonded by a common cause, act together for the collective good, what seem like insurmountable odds can be overcome. While we are starting to see improvements and with the rollout of the vaccines, there are still hurdles that lie ahead.
