Jim Mitchell Memorial Award & Larry derksen Memorial Award

The Alberta Metal Building Association has established two awards for apprentices in the Metal Building System Erector trade. The awards are in the amount of $1500 each to be presented to two AMBA member apprentices at the AMBA Annual General Meeting each year.

Only those apprentices successfully completing the technical training period will be eligible for nomination to receive either one of the awards.

Eligible candidates for nomination will:

  1. Be employed by an AMBA member contractor when taking the technical training;

  2. Successfully complete the MBSE examination with a mark of more than 75%;

  3. Be employed by an AMBA member contractor when awards are presented

The main criteria will be the written comments supporting the nomination in the areas of technical ability, job site activities, accomplishments, safety, teamwork and reliability. Judging will take place when all nominations are received. Nominations are to be emailed directly to AMBA (info@albertametalbuildings.com) by no later than December 31st for technical training completed in the current calendar year. Each award will consist of a certificate and a cheque in the amount of $1500/winner. Both awards will be presented at the Annual General Meeting to which the winners will be invited.
