Congratulations to the 2023 AMBA Jim Mitchell Memorial Award and Bursary Recipient: Andrew Hurley

Andrew received the AMBA first-year Apprenticeship Bursary at the AMBA 2022 AGM. It was exciting to present Andrew with the second-year bursary, as well as the first-year Jim Mitchell Memorial Award – a combined total of $2,250! Andrew was out of town working on erecting another metal building and could not be present to receive the award and bursary in person, but he is very appreciative of Bexson Construction’s and AMBA’s support.

We had a record number of golfers and hole sponsors: 78 golfers participated, and 11 golf holes were sponsored! Golfing and socializing with our friends and industry partners made for a fantastic day, despite the cool and rainy weather.

Message from the Executive Director: April 2023

The post-Covid world in which we live continues to be an uneasy ride! While all companies strive to manage their businesses in these uncertain times, the challenges are ever-present. Supply and labour shortages, inflation, the Ukraine war, and upcoming provincial elections, to name a few.

Message from the Chair: April 2023

The AMBA Board members continue to pursue erectors working in Alberta to join AMBA. AMBA is founded by Metal Building Erectors and will always be at the core of our Metal Building Association. However, it has been challenging to get erector companies to join AMBA. Perhaps it is because erectors may not find value in the association, aren’t aware of all the AMBA programs available to them, and don’t have the time to participate in meetings. The AMBA membership easily pays for itself: bursaries, awards, marketing, access to industry participants and networking! Please reach out to your erector companies and educate them on the benefits of joining AMBA… together we can make a difference.

Check out this YouTube video for a quick tutorial on how to enroll your Metal Building Apprentices in the Ironworker Metal Building System Erector Program.

Recorded March 15, 2023, this video shows the steps on how to find classes for the MSBE apprentice. This process is the same for all types of apprentices at the time the video was recorded.
