Metal Roof Curbs

Metal roofs can easily accommodate roof top mechanical units. Roof top unit curbs are an important component of any roof system and investing in the best industry solution is cheap insurance for a worry free outcome.

Curbs that are through fastened, without a water diverter create an area of potential water ponding which can compromise the weathertightness of the roof (see photo on the left). As the roof expands and contracts, the fasteners and sealants become stressed and over time will leak, requiring excessive maintenance and repairs. Solutions to repair the failing curb may compromise the integrity of the metal roof system and void any manufacturers’ warranties.

Custom made curbs constructed from aluminum, with mitered and welded corners, a properly engineered water diverter, and insulated vapor barriered walls will allow for expansion and contraction, maintain weathertightness for the life of the roof and significantly lower maintenance costs (see photo below). Many metal building roof manufacturers work with pre-approved curb suppliers.

In Western Canada, Curber Manufacturing, based out of Edmonton, Alberta, has been fabricating custom curbs for the metal building industry since 1998. All Curber curbs ship as a complete weather-tight system, which means that everything is included in the curb package. All curbs come complete with a No-Leak Warranty to give building owners peace of mind.
