Executive Director Report: Spring 2022

Roger Geisinger, AMBA Executive Director

What times we live in! From the worst pandemic since the Spanish flu, to war in Europe, run away inflation, political upheaval and unprecedented supply chain issues. Yet, Alberta remains a rewarding place to do business! We have seen our share of boom and busts over the years, but well run companies find a way to survive and thrive. It is a testament to the women and men of Alberta who continue to adapt to whatever the current conditions are. The State of the Industry update and the AMBA President’s message in the April Newsletter outline the many challenges and opportunities ahead.

Conditions change, but strong business leaders make the right decisions to be successful. Take smart risks, hire and retain good employees, take advantage of social media and other tools and manage your cash flow. The rewards are there for companies with the right leadership. The metal building industry continues to change and evolve. Stay on top of new products and trends to benefit your clients.

Continuing with things that worked 20 years ago may put you behind today and jeopardize your future. Be willing to ACCEPT CHANGE!

The AMBA board works hard to assist the metal building industry and promote metal building construction. There are a lot of experienced industry people who serve on our board. You can help in many ways:

  • Join the board

  • Bring new ideas forward to the Board of Directors

  • Support AMBA by keeping your membership current

  • Spread the benefits of being an AMBA member

  • Submit your projects so AMBA can feature them in the Newsletter and on Social Media

  • Attend the Annual General Meeting

  • Attend the golf tournament

We are certainly stronger as a cohesive group than we are apart. It is also vital to have a Metal Building Association that advocates for our industry when government considers changes to tradesman training, labour rules etc. The only thing we can predict is that tomorrow will likely be different than today.

 Wishing you all continued success!

Regards,

Roger Geisinger
