Project Profile: Tingley’s Harvest Center

Before the dust settles…

For over 20 years, Tingley’s Harvest Center has been dedicated to providing agriculture farm equipment sales and service to farmers throughout Alberta. With a growing Ag market, Tingley’s reached out to local contractor, Bexson Construction, to provide preliminary drawings, a budget and construction for a new facility in Lloydminster, Alberta. The project had strict design requirements to meet dealership criteria with a flat roof system and a conventionally framed structure.

Bexson Construction sold the benefits of an engineered custom designed metal building. While the building checked off all the boxes of the design needs, it also provided the value of a custom engineered building: an energy efficient building envelope; design flexibility with an integrated steel mezzanine, concealed roof top units and a 5-ton overhead crane; and cost effective framing – all in a compressed construction schedule. With the roof sloping to the back and a parapet along the front wall, the design provided the appearance of a flat roof with a low maintenance metal building roof system that has a lifespan far exceeding a conventional built-up roof. Insulated metal wall panels and a double skin thermal roof system exceeded stringent energy codes and provided lower operating costs.

Building during the pandemic added health, safety and scheduling challenges – utilizing a custom fabricated metal building streamlined the construction process so that Bexson Construction was able to deliver a quality project while keeping their employees safe.  When the dust settled, everyone was pleased with the building design, quality and function.
